New Partnership - Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada & Saskatchewan health research Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Investment Supports Locally Driven Innovation through SHRF Solutions Program

SASKATOON, SK — Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada (PCFC) is providing matched funding to the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF) to support a new partnership aimed at advancing prostate cancer research and improving care across Saskatchewan.

Men across the province continue to face gaps in early detection, access to care, and support for patients and families. The partnership will invest in research that reflects the realities of prostate cancer in Saskatchewan and supports practical solutions to these challenges.

With funding from PCFC, projects will be delivered through SHRF's Solutions Program, which brings together researchers and health system partners to develop and implement innovations that address priority health needs.

"This partnership represents an important step toward addressing the unique challenges faced by men with prostate cancer in Saskatchewan," said Murray Hill, chair of the Prostate Cancer Support Group–Saskatoon, and Dr. Kishor M. Wasan, board director and chair of the scientific advisory committee at PCFC. "By investing in locally led research through SHRF, we are supporting solutions that can make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes and care experiences."
"Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada is committed to investing in research that delivers measurable improvements in the lives of men and their families," said Mark Mahl, Executive Director of Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada. "Through this funding to SHRF, we are enabling Saskatchewan-led innovation that addresses gaps in detection, care, and support, and helps ensure promising ideas are translated into practice."

A total of $100,000 in PCFC and SHRF funding is available for prostate cancer research under this partnership. Innovation grants of up to $50,000 per project will support one-year initiatives focused on developing new approaches to care, detection, and patient support.

SHRF's Solutions Program emphasizes collaboration and real-world impact, with a focus on research that health-care providers and decision-makers can apply to improve patient and family outcomes.

"This collaboration enables research that begins with real-world questions and leads to practical applications," said Patrick Odnokon, CEO of SHRF. "Together with Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada, we are supporting Saskatchewan researchers to drive meaningful improvements in prostate cancer care."

Applications for the Innovation Grant will support projects that aim to deliver sustainable impact and improve health outcomes across the province.
