With early detection and better treatment, more women are living longer after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Yet, in Canada there are few standardized guidelines for care following breast cancer treatment and follow-up care may be less than ideal. To improve this situation, clinicians must have access to literature containing the latest research findings and best care practices. Rhona Shaw is developing a model for knowledge translation to clinicians who are involved in breast cancer after-care. Specifically, this project will look at knowledge translation related to arm morbidity, a potentially disabling condition that is relatively common after treatment for breast cancer. Shaw will analyze data from interviews with clinicians and oncologists across Saskatchewan with the goal of determining their information needs and media preferences.
