The Intrauterine Inflammation Research Group is looking further into the earliest origins of disease. Members of this interdisciplinary research team want to know if certain diseases actually originate during childhood or even before birth by looking at factors that are often overlooked. The research team will try to identify determinants of future inflammation-mediated diseases by specifically looking at who we are (genetics), how we live (lifestyle), and where we live (physical and environmental exposures). The research project’s ultimate goal is to help predict origins of many chronic diseases so that they can be prevented or managed more effectively.
