Non-Hodgkin’s cancers are among the top five leading causes of cancer death in young adults in North America. The most common form, accounting for 30% of all newly diagnosed cases, is known as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Half of these patients have tumours that are resistant, or patients experience a relapse. Most of these lose their battle with this form of cancer. Dr. Yu, working with Drs. Geyer and Dong, aims to identify protein markers that better classify various types of DBLCL cancers, allowing better understanding of molecular differences that will aid in the development of individualized treatments for patients.
