Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is a common problem. When patients have mild memory loss, the diagnosis of AD is difficult to make based on a doctor’s exam because of the early stages of the disease. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is a non-invasive examination technique that provides information about brain metobolites, which may allow doctors diagnose AD earlier. Dr. Harder and her team will study one hundred patients with memory complaints, who will undergo MRS at the beginning of the study, and one year later. Metabolites will be compared to determine if MRS could add to the diagnostic accuracy in patients with early memory loss.
