To adapt to changes in the modern workplace, organizations in industrialized countries have adopted "flexible" work strategies. These new strategies seek to increase the productivity of workers, while reducing staffing costs by hiring part-time, contract and temporary workers. The impacts of these strategies on employee health are complex and sometimes contested. Using action research methods, Dr. Polanyi will work with government, workplace and community stakeholders to collect and analyze information on emerging work-related health issues. It's expected that this partnership will lead to a new collaborative research and action to promote healthier and more productive Saskatchewan workplaces.
