Using advanced molecular and gene therapy techniques, this project aims to find genes crucially involved in the generation of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), the most common type of epilepsy in adult humans. The novel studies that Drs. Ji and Zhang propose to do are important, as they may identify epileptogenetic genes, which could establish a solid base to develop strategies to regulate these genes, and creating an effective treatment for TLE.
