Canadian Common CV
What is it? The Common CV system is a Web-based tool that allows researchers to manage their Curriculum Vitae (CV) data in a single repository and generate multiple CVs to member organizations. SHRF has joined the Common CV Network, a partnership of Canadian organizations that provides research funding with the aim of working together to streamline the process researchers use to submit their CV with grant applications. What does it mean to funding applicants? SHRF has implemented the Common CV system and, beginning in Fall 2007, will require all applicants for grant funding to complete the Common CV as part of the application process. Researchers with CVs already in the Canadian Common CV system will merely have to update them and complete some SHRF-specific fields. The directory was identified by Saskatchewan’s health research community at the 2004 Health Research Summit as an essential tool for networking and finding experts in certain fields. Who is it for? All health researchers residing in Saskatchewan who register with the Common CV or update their information on the Common CV are invited to join the Saskatchewan Directory of Health Researchers. Part of a National Resource Saskatchewan’s Directory will be linked to the Interprovincial Directory of Researchers, created by funding agencies in Quebec and British Columbia. Saskatchewan is the third province to join, with Nova Scotia and Manitoba expected soon, contributing to this important national resource for finding and connecting with research experts across Canada. While participation is voluntary, researcher support is strongly encouraged to help us make this important initiative a success.
